We encourage young people to explore technical careers

In late September 2025, Gregor Ortl helped inspire students at Trbovlje High School. He presented our company and the amazing work we do, and described a typical workday as an engineer. At the same time, he encouraged the young people to dedicate their time not only to their studies but also to extracurricular activities: “I’ve learned a lot through this—from collaborating with people to managing processes and navigating bureaucracy. Today, I connect these experiences with mechanical engineering, which is why I see things others might overlook.”

In Europe, only a quarter of students in STEM fields are women; in Slovenia, it’s one in three. Why don’t more women choose engineering careers? Because they lack role models, and we haven’t been able to explain the important role and contribution engineers make to society’s development.

Our company also participates in the Inženirka leta (Engineer of the Year) project. The Engineer of the Year selection addresses the issue of the "invisibility" of female engineers in society. The goal is to showcase Slovenian female engineers, highlighting the fascinating work they do and how their knowledge and efforts contribute to progress. Every year, 10 inspiring female engineers are presented to the public. These are individuals whose personalities and work can inspire, motivate, or encourage young women to pursue an engineering degree or career path.

As Innovate.ing partners, we also support the event marking the official announcement of the Engineer of the Year. As part of the partnership, we have the opportunity to address and introduce ourselves to students at technical universities. Additionally, our company and products are featured in a special Innovate.ing promotional video. The video is used by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation to promote the Slovenian innovation ecosystem worldwide.
